How King’s Hope Taught Me to Live—Not Just Survive

I was met by Community Care Workers, and they invited me to King’s Hope. At the time, I was working as a waste collector in the community—barely surviving. I struggled with alcohol, cigarettes, and intense anger issues.

My life has changed dramatically. Counseling helped me become a better person. At King’s Hope, I learned to solve problems constructively and rebuild relationships with my family. I’m deeply grateful to Pastor Kabelo for his spiritual guidance and prayers; I don’t know where I’d be without King’s Hope.

Today, I live well: eating healthy food, wearing clean clothes (thanks to their provisions), and working in the community garden. The garden is my therapy—it keeps me away from alcohol and temptation. The support group also transformed me; sharing daily challenges with others helped me control my temper, reduce stress, and stay focused. I quit smoking and drinking years ago and now live a clean life.

I even manage my own garden section, selling fresh harvests to the community. People love our reliable, high-quality vegetables. During lockdown, I kept working to ensure others had food in hard times.

King’s Hope, keep up the good work!
